RULES FOR KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS
Please organize your matches soon because time goes by quickly and before you know it it’s the last day of the round. Please bear in mind that we have weekday and weekend players so please be as flexible as possible when arranging matches. Be aware that you must be prepared to play on weekdays OR weekends depending who you meet in the various rounds. Matches must be played by the due dates NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN. It is the responsibility of the person listed above to contact the person below but please use some common sense inthis!
MATCHPLAY
FULL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CURRENT HANDICAP FOR EXAMPLE A PLAYER WITH A HANDICAP OF 20,PLAYING SOMEONE WITH A HANDICAP OF 8, WILL RECEIVE 12 SHOTS. IF THE MATCH IS ALL SQUARE AFTER18 HOLES – YOU MUST RETURN TO THE 1ST TEE AND CONTINUE UNTIL THERE IS A RESULT
STROKEPLAY
THE BEST NETT SCORE USING CURRENT HANDICAP AFTER 18 HOLES STROKEPLAY WINS. IF NETT SCORES ARE EQUAL AFTER 18 HOLES THE RESULT IS CALCULATED ON COUNTBACK BEST NETT BACK NINE USING ½EXACT HANDICAP, IF STILL TIED THEN NETT BACK SIX USING 1/3 EXACT HANDICAP, THEN NETT BACK 3USING 1/6 EXACT HANDICAP). IF THIS STILL FAILS TO RESOLVE A TIE, THE MATCH SHOULD BE REPLAYED OVER 18 HOLES.
PAIRS
FOUR BALL BETTER BALL MATCHPLAY THE PERSON WITH THE LOWEST HANDICAP CONCEDES STROKES TO THE OTHER THREE PLAYERS. THIS IS CALCULATED ON ¾ OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE HANDICAPS. Eg. MARY HAS AN 8 HANDICAP AND HER PARTNER LUCY PLAYS OFF 12. THEY ARE PLAYING AGAINST MAGGIE OFF 24 AND RUTH OFF 36. SINCE LUCY HAS THE LOWEST HANDICAP (8) THIS IS REGARDED AS THE ‘BASE’ SO LUCY WILL HAVE 3 STROKES WHICH IS ¾ DIFFERENCES OF 4. MAGGIE WILL GET 12 STROKES (3/4 OF 16) AND RUTH 21 (3/4 OF 28).
SCRATCH MATCHPLAY
NO HANDICAP ALLOWANCE Play as normal matchplay but with no shots given. If the match is all square after 18 holes you must return to the 1st Tee and continue until there is a result
