Situation: At Les Ormes Open - Player finds lost ball under bush – it is a Titliest and she was playing with a Titleist – takes required drop for ball unplayable and continues round. When on the same hole on back nine group searching yet again for one of the group’s ball finds Player’s original lost ball. She has been playing with wrong ball since the drop was made on first nine.
Rules: Responsibility for playing the proper ball rests with the player. Each player should put an identification mark on her ball (Rule 12-2) A player must hole out with the ball played from the teeing ground unless the ball is lost, out of bounds or the player substitutes another ball. (Rule 15-1)
Penalties: Matchplay – if a player makes a stroke at the wrong ball (that is not in a hazard) she LOSES THE HOLE. (Rule 15-3a) Strokeplay – if competitor makes a stroke or strokes at a wrong ball (not in a hazard) she incurs a PENALTY OF TWO STROKES. (Rule 15-3b)
Action: The player must correct his mistake by playing the correct ball (using the Rules if lost etc). If she fails to correct her mistake before making a stroke on the next teeing ground (or in the case of the last hole of round fails to declare her intention to correct his mistake before leaving putting green) SHE IS DISQUALIFIED Strokes made by player with wrong ball do not count in her score. |
